As I interact with and listen to more and more Erie residents, one thing is clear: Erie has a growing traffic issue—Vista Ridge/Hwy 7, the County-line Hwy 7 road closure, 287/Arapahoe, and Erie Pkwy/I25.
I am pro-growth and believe in doing no harm to those already here. These two beliefs can be at odds. Our quality of life, however, should not suffer because of poor planning to handle the traffic volumes coming into and out of Erie.
As Erie continues to grow, the need for a comprehensive plan to fund and widen the roads into and out of our town becomes more urgent. The lack of such a plan has led to frustrating traffic bottlenecks on our main roads.
We can’t change the past, but we can gather experts on traffic and finances to find a way to proactively start the hard work of developing an implementable plan to expand our road capacities and stop the worsening of traffic congestion.
This election is about priorities. Are we focused on the right things today?
Erie needs leadership that is not shy about being open about the issues and willing to work with the experts on transportation and finances to help solve them. I am a pragmatic leader who is willing to consider all options to preserve our quality of life.
Your input on this critical issue is important to me. I'm eager to hear your thoughts.
Warmly,
Andrew Moore
